About Our Painting Work in Melbourne, VIC

Our story
The repair first, then the paint
A lot of painting goes wrong before the first coat. Paint over a crack without fixing it and it tends to come back. Paint over a soft sill and the new colour lifts with the timber. So the work starts with what is under the surface, and the painting comes after it.
That is why the services read the way they do. Plastering and carpentry sit beside interior and exterior painting, because a repaint in an older house almost always turns up a cracked cornice, a loose skirting board or a weatherboard that needs replacing, and those are fixed as part of the same job.
The same thinking runs through insurance work and new builds. After a leak the plaster has to dry and be repaired before it is sealed and painted, and on a new house bare plaster and timber need the right first coat. In both cases the preparation decides how long the paint lasts.
The work travels, from Box Hill and Doncaster through Balwyn, Kew and Camberwell to Richmond, Toorak, Malvern and Prahran. There is nowhere to drop in to, because all of it happens at your place.
How we work
Four things we will not trade away
You are told what the wall actually needs, even when it is less than you asked for
Sometimes a room needs a patch and one coat rather than a full repaint, or the mark on the ceiling is an old dry stain that only needs sealing. We will say so, even when the bigger job is the one you rang about.
The preparation is written into the quote, not added on the day
Filling, sanding, sealing stains and fixing timber are written into the quote line by line, so you can see where the time goes. Anything found once work starts is written down and agreed before it is done.
Your house is covered before anything is opened
Floors, furniture and fittings are covered before sanding or painting starts, and door handles and hooks come off rather than being painted around. The mess stays on the drop sheets and leaves with us.
The work is checked with you before the drop sheets come up
At the end we walk through every room or every side of the house with you in daylight. Anything you point out is touched up then, while the brushes and the paint are still out.
How a job runs
First call to last coat
This is the order the work happens in, and what is written down at each point. Ask about any of it before you book.
The call
Described in your own words
You do not have to know what anything is called. Which rooms or walls, what is wrong with them, and roughly when the house was built is enough to start with, and daylight photos help more than measurements.
Looking at the surfaces
Under the paint, not just the colour
Most of what decides a painting job sits under the surface: cracks in the plaster, chalky or flaking old paint, damp patches and soft timber. Looking at those first is what makes the quote match the job.
The quote, in writing
Surfaces, repairs, coats
You get the quote in writing before any paint is bought. It names the rooms or walls, the repairs and the preparation, and anything found once work starts is written down and agreed before it is done.
Painting and handover
Covered, painted, cleaned up
Floors and furniture are covered before work starts and the house is tidied as the job goes. At the end we walk through it with you in daylight before the drop sheets come up.
